Royal Holloway University of London
Centre for International Theatre & Performance Research, Royal Holloway Handa Noh Studio

In a Noh performance workshop, participants have the opportunity to learn the basic principles of Noh theatre following a pedagogy which draws from the tradition of the Kongō School. The workshop activities comprise basics of meditation in preparation to training, physical/vocal warm up exercises, basic chant and dance movements through the study of a short dance excerpt. In addition, UDAKA Michishige will demonstrate dance excerpts from the classical repertoire. No previous knowledge of Noh is required to take part of the workshop.
